How Does It All Work?

How does it work?

Amurco operates flexible music licensing options, meaning you can find the best solution for your project. Our experienced team of music consultants will be happy to discuss your project – and will make sure to give it the soundtrack it deserves.

What is Royalty Free music?

To put it simply, royalty free music is a type of license model in which the copyright owner (the artist) does not receive royalties from performing rights societies (PRS, ASCAP, GEMA) for the music uses generated by those licences. The music user only has to pay the Licensor (Amurco) a fee for a licence to use the content, and no other fees. Amurco handles paying the artists from those fees.

Using royalty free music in most cases* eliminates the need to pay those expensive collection society fees, saving you serious $$$. At Amurco, royalty free does NOT equal low quality. Our library showcases the best independent talent, from the likes of Grammy and Ivor Novello winners and nominees.

*It is always prudent to consult a copyright lawyer in your territory before commencing usage of royalty free content.

What is Rights Managed music?

Amurco can also provide licences to use a vast catalogue of music which falls under a more traditional, rights managed, licensing model, whereby those uses generate royalties for the artists through the performing rights societies globally.

Amurco’s rights managed catalogue is home to the best up-and-coming and established artists, so you’re sure to find a musical match for your project.
